Fly Fish North Carolina Forum › › Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass ‹ No topic | Next topic › Pages: 1 Wading for Smallmouth (Read 0 times) James Cotton Guest Wading for Smallmouth 09/12/05 at 12:06:13   I just moved to the Raleigh area from Northern VA, where I fished the Potomac and Shanandoah for smallmouth, wading with a fly rod.  I'd like to find something similar here and was thinking about the New River.  I can't seem to find a fly shop in that area.  Can you suggest a couple of places on the New in NC that I might try?  Other good rivers reasonably close to the Triangle?   Thanks. . . Back to top       IP Logged CJS Guest Re: Wading for Smallmouth Reply #1 - 09/12/05 at 18:07:16   On your way to the New.  Take 421 to the top of the mountain.  Go right at the light on Hwy 221N.  About 2 m. on the left is White Top Laurel Fly Shop in a little strip building.  They guide on the New and have always been really helpful to me.  Good luck.  I wish I could get to the New myself, now that the water level is down.  Let us know how you do.
