| Watauga River |
 |
 |
| The Watauga River hosts all types of trout stream regulations.
This magnificent river runs just beside NC Hwy 105 in Watauga and Avery
Counties and ends up in the Watauga lake, which is in Tennessee. The Watauga
river starts at the base of Grand Father Mountain in Banner Elk, NC and runs
into the Watauga Lake in Tennessee.
This river can bring some really big fish to the experienced fly
fisherman. There are a lot of very popular fishing sites on this river,
most of which are just off of HWY 105. Trout fishermen should beware though,
in the summer months there are a hand full of tubers and swimmers in some
sections. There is a real nice stretch that just became posted because of
"Twin Rivers" a new residential development right outside of Foscoe, NC.
